Communities of color are disproportionately affected by kidney disease, and managing dialysis alongside longstanding gaps in mental health\u00a0can be\u00a0difficult.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Mental Health Burden of Dialysis<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Research published on NIH&#8217;s PubMed Central found that up to 40% of adults on maintenance dialysis have depression, five times the rate of the general population, and that delivery of mental health care for this population is, in the authors&#8217; words, quite poor.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Social Workers Are Part of Your Care Team<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At\u00a0Innovative Renal Care (IRC)\u00a0clinics, mental health is not a separate track from dialysis care.
