Celebrating 5-Star Dialysis Care in the Vail Valley — Jeff’s Story

kidney-center-of-the-rockies

Wanda Trudeau, RN — Area Clinical Manager, Kidney Center of the Rockies

As an Area Clinical Manager, registered nurse, and native to the valley, I have had the honor of caring for dialysis patients for many years. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a patient walk through our doors, receive exceptional care, and walk back out into the life they love.

Every day I have the privilege of working alongside our Medical Director, Dr. Daniel Andreoli, and our clinic staff, Karen Roesenberg, David Barnett, Andrea Messier, Heidi Duenas Rojas, Jennifer Dixon, and Kelli Schertz. Together we care for dialysis patients near and far with the attention, expertise, and compassion they deserve.

When the Kidney Center of the Rockies opened in Avon, CO in 2017, we knew we were filling a critical gap. There were no dialysis centers between the Denver area and Grand Junction, a stretch of over 100 miles that runs through some of the most beautiful and visited communities in Colorado.

A Patient Who Stays with You

Jeff Miller is a lifelong skier who has lived with kidney disease for 42 years. Through two transplants, open heart surgery, and a cancer diagnosis, he has never stopped fighting to stay active. Before the Kidney Center of the Rockies opened, ski trips to the area were not possible as there were no dialysis centers to provide the life sustaining treatment required. Now, as a regular dialysis travel patient with Kidney Center of the Rockies, Jeff returns back to Vail to ski Blue Ox, Gandy Dancer, and the Back Bowls each year—an important part of feeling healthy in the face of all of his challenges.

That is exactly why we are here.

Recognized for Excellence

The Kidney Center of the Rockies is proud to be the only 5-Star dialysis center in over a 100-mile radius. That recognition comes directly from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which rates every dialysis center in the country on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, measuring both quality of patient care and patient experience. A 5-Star rating means a center is performing well above average compared to dialysis facilities across the country.

However, patients do not remember their center’s star rating. They remember the care they receive and whether their concerns were taken seriously.

Come See Us

Whether you are a local resident, relocating to the area, or a seasonal traveler, we are here. We offer in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home hemodialysis; treatment options designed to fit your life.

At Innovative Renal Care, patients are at the core of everything we do, and our purpose is to deliver more tomorrows to our patients, their families, and friends.
