What are the benefits of In-Center Hemodialysis?
If you or a loved one was recently diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and needs dialysis to support kidney function, you may feel overwhelmed. Rest assured that our expert healthcare team will handle every aspect of your care.
Here, we’ll cover the advantages of receiving in-center hemodialysis at one of our high-quality clinics. We’ll also cover the differences between home dialysis and in-center dialysis.
Your Partners in Kidney Care
In-center dialysis is an excellent option for many people who have ESRD.
Our dialysis centers offer the following benefits:
- A team of healthcare professionals
- Leading-edge dialysis technologies
- State-of-the-art dialysis equipment
- Cushioned and supportive dialysis chairs
- Satellite or cable TV at each dialysis station
- Free Wi-Fi access
- Convenient and accessible parking
Your dialysis care team includes a Registered Nurse, a master’s-level Social Worker, and a Registered Dietitian to provide comprehensive care tailored to your unique medical needs.
Finally, another surprising benefit is being around and socializing with other dialysis patients. It’s nice to see familiar faces going through similar challenges and building a support group outside of family and friends.
Home Dialysis vs. In-Center Dialysis
Home dialysis vs. in-center dialysis: which one is right for you?
While home dialysis offers more flexibility in your daily schedule, it requires additional support at home to help with treatments (e.g., a friend or family member.) Home dialysis is generally not a good option for those experiencing poor eyesight, fine-motor skill impairment, depression, or cognitive decline.
In-center dialysis offers a personalized patient experience from start to finish. Each treatment is administered and monitored by a trained renal professional and offers one-on-one visits with your nephrologist, nurse, social worker, and registered dietitian to help with your unique healthcare needs.
Additional benefits of in-center dialysis include:
- Clean and sterile dialysis units to ensure your safety.
- Modern, welcoming clinics with comfortable dialysis chairs.
- Structured treatment schedule to reduce self-care tasks.
- No complex medical equipment in your home.
What to Expect from a Visit to a Dialysis Center
At Innovative Renal Care, you’re not just a patient. You’re a valued member of our community. We understand that visiting a dialysis center can be overwhelming, especially at first.
That is why, in addition to providing high-quality kidney care, we work hard to ensure every visit is as comfortable and reassuring as possible.
Your Very First Visit
When you get referred for dialysis, your first appointment with us will be a consultation. That’s because we want to know you, your lifestyle habits, medical history, and unique health goals.
This information helps us create a personalized treatment plan to ensure optimal health outcomes for you.
Scheduled Treatments
Once you’re ready to begin your treatment plan, a welcoming front staff member will greet you and get you checked in. When your treatment chair is prepared, a clinical staff member will escort you and get you prepped for dialysis.
Before each treatment, we will check your weight, blood pressure, and temperature. This information helps inform your unique dialysis needs. Next, we will ask you to wash your hands and access site (if applicable) to avoid contamination and infection.
You’ll get to know our technicians, nurses, and nephrologists throughout your treatment time with us, and soon, we’ll feel like an extended part of your family.
Please don’t be afraid to ask your dialysis team any questions. We value our patient relationships and support patient education. We believe knowledge empowers you to make informed healthcare decisions about your kidney health and ongoing dialysis needs.
