Delivering more tomorrows to patients, their families, and friends is not just a mission statement at Innovative Renal Care. It is the standard by which every decision is made, every team is built, and every patient is cared for. As a physician-partnered, nurse-led, and patient-first organization, our care model goes beyond treatment.
Dialysis nurses, the backbone of our nurse-led model, monitor treatment, assess patient health before and after every session, and maintain the level of clinical attention that drives better outcomes. They are the consistent presence that ensures every session is safe, effective, and centered on the patient. Learn more about your full care team.
Physician-Partnered, Nurse-Led: How the Model Works
At IRC, patient-centered care means that everyone involved in your treatment works as one team. Your nephrologist sets the overall plan of care. Our nurses guide the daily steps of treatment, helping you understand what to expect and making sure your prescription is followed correctly each visit. Social workers, dietitians, technicians, and care partners also play key roles in keeping you supported and informed.
Each patient's dialysis doctor, part of a network of more than 1,200 credentialed kidney dialysis doctors and dialysis physicians across our centers, oversees individualized treatment plans and collaborates closely with the broader care team to ensure kidney health is managed with precision.
What This Means for You as a Patient
Each facility has at least one registered nurse on staff, and depending on state guidelines, some facilities also have licensed practical nurses or licensed vocational nurses. Dialysis nurses are your partners in providing exceptional dialysis care and oversee every aspect of your treatment. They verify that the dialyzer and all other equipment are sterilized, safe, secure, and working correctly. They also check your vital signs and assess your health several times throughout each treatment.
Dialysis nurses clean your access site to avoid infection, administer treatment with precision and care, and adjust your fluid removal rates as needed. They ensure medications are delivered safely and accurately as prescribed, provide valuable patient education, and answer any questions you have, all while working closely with your nephrologist and other care team members to help you develop a comprehensive care plan centered around your needs. How Nurse-Led Care Shows Up in Quality Ratings
Choosing a dialysis center is one of the most important decisions a patient can make. While star ratings and quality scores are often used to describe a center's performance, they do not tell the whole story. What truly matters is how those ratings reflect the day-to-day experience patients have each time they come in for treatment.
A strong Quality Rating shows that a center has consistent routines, reliable safety practices, and staff who understand how to deliver stable care. High performing centers tend to have dependable processes for treatment, consistent follow-up, strong communication among team members, and attention to safety and infection control. For patients, this means you can expect a center that works hard to protect your health and support your goals.
