Transferring Dialysis Centers: What to Know

Whether you are relocating or simply not happy with your current care center, there are many reasons why you might be thinking about exploring new dialysis options. The good news is that dialysis patients have more options than they may realize.

Life Happens

From relocating to move closer to family, retiring to a new city, or spending the winter months somewhere warmer, dialysis patients transfer centers for many different reasons. Life does not pause for dialysis, and patients should not have to pause their lives because of it.

For snowbirds and seasonal travelers, finding a reliable dialysis center in a new location is an important part of planning. For those relocating permanently, establishing care at a new center is one of the first steps in settling into a new community. And for patients simply looking for a center that better fits their schedule, their commute, or their overall experience, a transfer can make a meaningful difference in day-to-day life.

Whatever the circumstance, knowing that quality dialysis care is accessible wherever you are makes navigating those life changes more manageable.

A Better Experience

Sometimes the reason for transferring is not about location at all. It is about the experience. Dialysis treatment is more than just needles and machines. The experience surrounding your care can vary greatly from center to center. From the moment you walk through the door, the environment, the staff, and the level of communication you receive all play a role in how you feel, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too.

Patients deserve a center that meets their needs, respects their time, and treats them as a whole person. When that is not happening, it is entirely reasonable to explore other options.

Why Transfer to Innovative Renal Care (IRC)

Whatever your reason for considering a transfer, Innovative Renal Care is ready to welcome you. With more than 230 centers across 28 states, IRC offers accessible, high quality dialysis care in communities across the country.

At Innovative Renal Care, we understand that learning you need dialysis is a pivotal moment in your life. Our commitment extends beyond the treatment itself because we care for the whole person. That means supporting your physical, emotional, and overall well-being every step of the way.

The 2026 CMS Dialysis Facility ratings have been released, and IRC demonstrated measurable and sustained improvement across both quality and patient experience. This year, 21 IRC dialysis centers earned 5-Star Quality ratings, and 73% of IRC centers achieved 4 or 5-Star Quality ratings. IRC continues to outperform national averages, earning recognition for superior clinical outcomes and exceptional patient experiences. In patient experience specifically, IRC remains the only national provider achieving an overall score above 4-Star, with more than 47% of our centers performing at a 5-Star level for patient experience compared to other large dialysis organizations.
